What I've Been Up To

Well, it's been quite the holiday weekend in my world.  I started the weekend off by getting in a run on Friday, after work.

Miles: 3.13 miles
Time: 34:34 minutes
Pace 11:01 min/mile

It was a nice day for a run.  A little warm, but I didn't walk at all and I felt like I really pushed it at the end.  Patrick and I ended up going out for Chinese food with my family and my aunt and uncle.  We then all went bowling together, which was hysterical.  I haven't been bowling with my family in years.  We split up into teams and played against each other and just had a good time.

On Saturday I did some serious shopping.  My bedding from my registry went on sale big time this weekend.  My mom had the receipt for the stuff that my grandfather bought me.  In the end I was able to get $163 back.  Is that not insane?  And that is exactly the reason why you should never pay full price for anything.  If you can wait, it will eventually go on sale.  I was able to pick out a bunch of other stuff, so major score!

Yesterday I got in an awesome bike ride on the local bike trail.  I actually used it to ride down to Patrick's aunt's house where we were celebrating his mom's 50th birthday.  Here's how the ride went down:

Miles: 15.7 miles
Time: 1:02.15 minutes
Pace: 15.1 miles/hour

The party was really nice.  I got to visit with some family and friends.  I was really good and only really indulged on a piece of cake (yum!).

Today we're going to visit my grandparents.  Other than that I've been catching up on sleep, reading my book, reading blogs, and generally just relaxing.  I'm trying to just enjoy it all before the wedding stuff starts consuming my life.  What's everyone else been up to?  And do stay tuned - I'm hosting a giveaway this week!

Fun Day Sunday

During the past week Patrick announced that we were going to have Fun Day Sunday today.  I was excited because it's not often that he plans something for us to do.  He usually leaves that up to me.  We started off our morning with some more bowling.  As I mentioned in a previous post, the local bowling alley has a great weekend deal.  The mood soon turned sour when I started kicking Patrick's butt in the first game.  My high score was 102!  Considering the best you can do is 300, I was pretty impressed with myself, especially since it was candle pin.  Patrick is admittedly a poor loser.  Fun day Sunday was not off to a good start.

For lunch we hit up the lovely Olive Garden.  I don't mind the place, but I really wish we had a better selection of restaurants up here.  All we have is chains.  Anyway, we both got the soup, salad, and bread sticks deal which is rather budget friendly as well.

We were supposed to go see Avatar after that.  However, I just wasn't feeling the sitting in a theater for 3 hours thing.  Instead we did some shopping.  I got the new Jillian Michael's workout DVD I've been lusting over since it came out (review to come!).

I also got a Jodi Picoult book (love her - and she's from NH!).
Finally, I got a little running pack.  None of my running shorts have pockets and since I'm running more than ever, I want to be safe and be able to take an ID and my phone with me.

So, as you can imagine, I was in a pretty good mood.  Patrick, not so much.  So Fun Day Sunday did not turn out to be so fun so we're going to have a re-do next weekend.  Oh well!  What did everyone else do this weekend?

Strike!

Happy Monday to everyone out there.  Hope your weeks are off to a good start.  Yesterday Patrick and I met up with our friends again to go bowling.  The place a couple towns over has a special on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am until noon where you can bowl as much as you want for $7.  It was such a good deal that we had to try it out.  We got in 6 games each in about 2 hours.  By that point our arms were tired and we called it quits.  Here are the boys bowling.  Look at that technique!

Mine is the goofy one on the left.  He's actually quite competitive when it comes to this kind of stuff.  He gets aggravated when he gets a bad score.  I think it's kind of silly because it's just bowling and we're there to have fun.  I wanted to snap more pics but alas, my batteries were not fully charged as I thought they were.  Oh well.  Here is our score sheet.

That's right, this place is old school.  You have to keep score by hand and push the button to reset the pins.  This place is candle-pin, as opposed to ten-pin which uses the larger balls.  Candle-pin is therefore much harder.  My high score was a 75 and Patrick's was a 93, which I think is pretty impressive since we only go occasionally.  I should also mention that I'm surprisingly sore after this experience.  I think it used some muscles that I forgot I had!
