Just a Little Motivation

Luckily my alarm went off this morning and I was able to lace up my shoes and get my morning run in.  Another 3.1 miles on the books.  We're back to nice weather up here, but not for long so I'm glad I got to enjoy it.  While running, I often think about walking or just giving up.  This time of year really keeps me motivated because I see other runners out (and I don't want to look wimpy!).  There's also a gentleman that is outside gardening on most of the mornings I'm out.  He always smiles and waves and that keeps me going.  As soon as I passed him, I had a smile plastered on my face for the rest of my run.

Another thought that crossed my mind was that some people would probably kill to be able to do what I do.  And half the time I'm complaining to myself about how hard running is.  Really, I should be more thankful that my body is able to do what it can.  Then I can came across this article.  It's about a 37-year-old amputee who is a divorced mother of mom who just qualified for the U.S. Track Team.  If a woman with one leg who barely has any time can run ultramarathons or for 24 hours at a time, I should be able to accomplish any of my goals.  Stories like this really motivate me to keep going and to keep pushing.
