#3 - A Homemade Hat
Thank you to everyone who peeked at my new crafting blog. I'm really enjoying having a place to share all my crafty project. I recently added some more scrapbooking layouts and plan on putting up another crochet project tonight.
Thank you Jillian for kicking my butt tonight! Patrick and I have been getting in a track workout three times a week, but I've been neglecting any sort of weight training. So tonight I pulled out Jillian's No More Trouble Zones Video. And boy, it has been awhile! It showed me how out of shape I am. But that's okay because I'm heading in the right direction. I've got two new Jillian videos coming my way from Amazon that I'm looking forward to trying out. I find new workout stuff helps keep me motivated. Has anyone tried either of these new videos?
I'm hoping the ab DVD will go well after a running workout because I know a solid core can only improve my running. And the second DVD is supposed to be done with a kettlebell, which I don't have, but can be done with a hand weight. If I like it, I may invest in a kettle bell. Anyone have any recs on kettle bells?
Now I'm watching the Biggest Loser. Is anyone else watching? Any favorite teams? I'm really like the aqua team and the dad on the blue team. I'll be interested to see who goes home this week!

Bloggiversary Giveaway #3 - An Awesome Hat!
See Bloggiversary Giveaway #1 HERE
See Bloggiversary Giveaway #2 HERE
I have shared some of my craftiness HERE and HERE and I had lots of other things I wanted to share, but this blog is supposed to be about health and fitness. So I started another blog called Craftin'! Not only do I crochet, but I also love to scrapbook and I sew a little bit (someday I want to learn how to quilt). Anyway, Molly suggested that I should do a giveaway of one of my creations. So to finish up my bloggiversary giveaways, I'm giving away a winter hat (my apologies if you don't live in a cold enough place for a hat).
This is a standard size hat and the colors are actually pretty accurate in this photo. It fits my head, if that helps. It should fit teens as well, and you can always roll up the border, if needed. And if you don't like a flower, it is easily detachable. If you don't wear hats, it makes a great gift!
How To Enter:
The fine print: Open to U.S. and Canadian readers only. The giveaway will end at 11:59 PM on 1/25 and the winner will be chosen using Random.org and will be announced on 1/26. Good luck!

Craftin' - 2
In exercise news, Patrick and I hit the gym today. We got a bunch of snow yesterday, so it may be another day or so before I run outside again (gotta wait for those roads to be clear!). I did intervals on the track today to try to work on my speed. Our indoor track is only 1/10 of a mile around. So I did 2 laps walk, 3 laps run 6 times with a 1 mile walk cool down. Total Miles: 4.0 miles Total Time: 57:30 minutes. I was only going to walk half a mile cool down, but I got to chatting with a friend on the track and got distracted. That's ok, because it's helping me get to my 1000 miles in 2011 goal!
I keep forgetting, but I wanted to post some pictures of more of the things that I crocheted as gifts for Christmas. I couldn't post before because some were gifts for family that read this blog.
Here is a hat and bootie set I made. I actually made two. One for a baby shower I went to in November and one for our neighbors whose baby is due next month.
I also made a blanket for the baby shower in November. They used it during their newborn pictures, and I was so flattered. (Please note: I did not make the beautiful baby, just the blanket!)
Next, I made a hat, mitten, and scarf set for my mother. I think she is satisfied.
These are ornaments that I made that look like Christmas lights. I made many sets of these! All my family got them and I sent them out for a couple ornament swaps I was in.
And I made a hat for the man:
I made a ton of hats that were basically all the same, but different colors that I didn't take pictures of. Oh well! Now I'm working on a cabled afghan for our living room. Considering I've given away all three of the blankets I've made, it's about time I made one to keep!

Craftin'
Last week was one of the most stressful weeks of the semester. Between exams and papers being do, it felt like the week was never ending. So I gave myself and break this weekend and worked on some craft projects. I personally love to crochet and I find it really relaxing. So here's what I whipped up:
First I learned how to make crocheted butterflies. How cute is this? Our little neighbor loves butterflies so I made this to go on a hat for her, but it ended up being too bit.
This is the hat I finished for her, with a smaller butterfly on it. She's three and absolutely adorable. I gave her the hat on Sunday morning when she was outside playing and she kept it on the rest of the afternoon. I gave her the other butterfly I made just to play with and she was showing off to our other neighbors. Her dad is a grad student in my department and he told me that the next morning when she woke up she was asking where her hat was. Love that kid!
I also mad this cowl for myself. I hardly ever make things for myself, but this I'm keeping. The color is really more of a bright pink than this picture shows. I rocked this today and my friend now wants one for Christmas.

And with the leftover yarn I made a hat for myself. My winter coat is a royal blue, so I think this will look nice.
I also started some small Christmas gifts that I can't reveal here as some of them are for people who read this blog. So that's what I did this weekend. What did you do with your weekend. I plan on crafting it up for this Christmas season for budget reasons. Anyone else craft for the holiday? What do you make?
