So I said I would post my list of resolutions the other day and I lied. I didn't do it. But I've been thinking about it and I think I want to do things a little differently this year. Instead of giving myself a list of goals that may become unattainable due to unforseen circumstances (or my laziness), I am going to make a few short-term goal at several points during the year. That way I can focus on each goal and, hopefully, increase my chances of success. I'm thinking that I'll post my new goals every 3 months or so.
Here is my first list of goals:
- Get back in to the routine of working our regularly. Let's just put it this way, I only exercised about 5 times in the month of December. Major fail. You can imagine the impact that has when trying to watch your weight.
- Post more pictures. I feel like my blog is so boring right now. I apologize. Once I get back to school (where my camera cord is) I really want to spice this blog up!
- Try new recipies. I cook a lot of the same things every week because it's easy. But I bought myself a great new cookbook called Cook Yourself Thin. Everything sounds so good! And I'm hoping it livens up dinner.
And my final goal, is sort of an announcement.
I am training for my first half-marathon! My training plan started yesterday and so far I'm on track (okay, so the first day was only a stretch and strengthen day, but so what I did it). I am using Hal Higdon's
training plan for beginners. I really like his training plans and there's one for all distances and all levels. I'll have more about the half marathon in future posts including my training partner and the race itself.
For anyone out there who has done an endurance race of any sort, do you have any words of wisdom? I think I'm going to need them.
im training for my first half too! isnt it exciting. I started on sunday and it took a lot for me to even finish those few miles i had planned. I just keep thinking that if I keep up the training there is great potential for me to FINISH STRONG at my half.
ReplyDeleteWhich half are you running?
Sounds like some great goals! I'll agree that adding pics to the blog really ads that personal touch. It's nice to see the face of the person you read about on a daily basis! Good luck with the 1/2 Mary training! I'm training for my first too...it's tough! Stick with it though, I'm sure you'll do great!
ReplyDeleteI'm training for a half as well (mines in Feb.) so exciting!
ReplyDeleteSounds like some great short term goals and I think training is really going to help you with the working out one! I can't wait to hear some of the new recipes you try!
